What Are CEREC Crowns?One of the main reasons why so many people are reluctant to go to the dentist is because several dental restoration procedures require multiple visits. One such procedure is that of crown placement. What is CEREC?


CEREC is the abbreviation for Chairside Economic Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics and this technology can be used to create same-day porcelain crowns.
This technology uses CAD/CAM software to make a highly accurate 3D image of the dental crown that can be milled on the same day. These CEREC crowns are quite popular among people who require tooth restoration but do not want to make repeat visits.

How are CEREC Crowns Made?


At Palani Center for Dental Implants, Giri Palani, DDS, FICOI and Dr. Palani will numb your affected tooth to prevent pain during the procedure. They will then shape your tooth enamel so that it can accommodate the crown.

Once your tooth is prepared, we will use an intraoral camera to get a 3D impression of your teeth. This image is then sent to the computer which is equipped with CAD/CAM software and connected to a milling machine.

We will closely check the digital image of your tooth and make some tweaks to ensure a perfect fit for the crown. We will then send the image to the milling machine to fabricate a crown from a high-grade and durable porcelain block.

Once the crown is made, we will place it on your weakened tooth.

The entire process will take as little as two hours. Getting a perfect smile on the same day is one of the biggest reasons why people prefer CEREC technology.
